Executive Director

For over 50 years, Beth El Preschool has been known to Durham and the local Jewish community as a warm, inclusive, nurturing preschool that is infused with Jewish values and traditions. We offer a child centered classroom environment (currently outdoors) with half day programs. Jewish principles of loving kindness, justice, and repairing the world – which we believe are universal – guide us in this mission. We are fully committed to supporting each child’s sense of joyful individuality, academic eagerness, and personal achievement.

Beth El Preschool offers a half day educational program for children ages 22 months to 5 years old. The school calendar year runs from late August to June, with a four week summer camp program during late-June and July.

Our next Executive Director will be responsible for managing the finances and operations of the school, ensuring the preschool conforms to the N.C. licensing standards, maintaining enrollment, communicating with parents, and attending board meetings. The Executive Director will work in partnership with the school’s Lead Teacher to manage the curriculum and day-to- day operations of the school and student experience.

The ideal candidate has/is:

  • Strong, effective communicator who values relationship building

  • Experience in administration, financial management, and leadership

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to think creatively and strategically

  • Experience with developmental stages of children and education

  • Knowledge of Judaism and its culture

  • A degree in Education, Educational Administration, Jewish Education, or equivalent experience

Position is part time, five days a week year-round.

Teaching Position

We currently have an immediate opening for a teacher in our Toddler Time class: ages 2 and 3. Hours are 8:30am-12:30pm Monday-Friday.
Beth El Preschool is a child-centered 1/2 day Jewish preschool that encourages each child to develop a sense of wonder, joyful individuality, and personal achievement. Our low teacher-student ratios allow close friendships, caring and sharing, and joyful group participation. Our experienced teachers know how to foster a loving, peaceful learning environment and a lot of fun! We encourage an appreciation for Judaism while offering a warm sense of community to families of all faiths.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Early childhood education: 1 year

  • CPR Certification

  • Child Development Associate Certification

  • Equivalent Experience

Summer Camp Position

Do you love being around children or know someone who does?

Come work at Camp Beth El. Our summer camp runs for 4 weeks, June 27th, July 11th, July 18th, and July 25th. Hours are 8:15-11:45 Monday-Friday. Apply for 1 or all 4 weeks. Beth El Summer camp will run primarily outdoors. We encourage each child to develop a sense of wonder, joyful individuality, and personal achievement. Our low teacher-student ratios allow close friendships, caring and sharing, and joyful group participation.
